Q:I love your book more than anything. The library is getting annoyed with me because I keep hoarding it..I guess I should just buy my own copy. I don't know how often you hear this, but you've written my favorite book, and thank you so so much for doing so! I hope you have/are having/had a lovely day!
Thank you so much friendly anon! I always love to hear that people enjoy DR BIRD and the fact that it’s your favorite gives me great great joy. I never thought I’d create anything that anyone would deem their favorite. It’s mind-blowing to me when I think back to times I wrote and wrote and wrote and thought I was terrible or that I’d never reach anyone. I still feel that way sometimes, so notes like this help me in ways that can’t be quantified.
So. Thank you!
That said, you should return the book to the library soon, so that others can enjoy it. :)
get out your judgerydoos…
I was tagged by quantumphysicsfordummies THANK YOU!! :)
You can tell a lot about a person by the music they listen to. Put your music library on shuffle, don’t skip, list 10 then tag10 people!
I had to cheat a bit here — I have 2100 songs by Radiohead (almost 7 days of listening dominated by bootlegs) so when the ‘shuffle’ came up with radiohead 6 times the first time I tried this, I felt really silly. So, I made a list of my music that excludes bootlegs/lives albums.
1. This Time of Year - Better Than Ezra
2. Dum Dum Boys — Iggy Pop
3. Set Yourself on Fire — Stars
4. Bacelorette — Björk
5. Babybird — The Wallflowers
6. How Can I Sing Like a Girl? — They Might Be Giants
7. After the Gold Rush — Neil Young
8. The Eraser — Thom Yorke
9. Kashmir — Led Zeppelin
10. Furture Farmers of America — Lou Reed
This is not a great representation of my musical taste, but honestly it’s way better than when I had all the bootlegs included!
Tag! Your turn!
Music question: Panic at the Disco
So, someone anonymously asked me to pick things about Panic at the Disco and I posted that I had no experience with the band. So I spent some time on Spotify to do my best here.
favourite song: Can’t pick a favorite after such a brief experience listening, but I really like “Calendar” and “From a Cabin in the Mountain” and “Nine in the Afternoon” and “Build god, Then We’ll Talk”
least favourite song: “Sarah Smiles” because I thought it was the Hall & Oates song but it’s not. There’s only one Sarah Smiles!
have i ever seen them live: No
favourite band member: Can I give a shoutout to the drummer? damn good.
least favourite band member: There’s no need for the kazoo. (Just kidding. there’s no kazoo.)
how many of their albums i have: Spotify!
favourite album: I feel like Vices & Virtues is more focused but I do like Pretty. Odd.
Raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses
It’s sleeping with roaches and taking best guesses
At the shade of the sheets and before all the stains
And a few more of your least favorite things. “Build God, then We’ll talk”
favorite music video: Not a big video person. sorry!
ever met any members: Not that I’m aware of. Probably not. I don’t go out much. Do they live near NJ? No? then no.
I’ve found some good stuff here — there’s a streak of Saigon Kick in here that I like and another band I can’t quite pin down. Something theatrical. Can’t pin it down. I love the drummer and bassist and found they stood out a lot on first listen.
